Our research on Wikipedia makes it into headlines

Several media mention some results of Felipe Ortega (a member of GSyC/LibreSoft) PhD thesis about how Wikipedia is evolving.

Today, several media (including major Spanish newspapers) reference some results of Felipe Ortega PhD thesis about Wikipedia evolution. Felipe has been studying the change records of Wikipedia for some years, and has performed some of the most comprehensive quantitative analysis on how main parameters (number of autors, number of changes, number of new articles, etc.) are evolving over time. One of the main results of his work is that the exponential growth of Wiipedia is somehow slowing down. Since 2006-2007, the number of new authors is becoming stable (previously it was ever increasing), which is leading to a more mature growth path.

For example, El País runs "La wikipedia pierde editores" (Wikipedia losses authors) as headline (a bit too exagerated, in my opinion, since the main results are more that the population of authors is  becoming stable in number). El Mundo headlines "La producción de contenidos de la popular Wikipedia reduce su ritmo" (content production of the popular Wikipedia reduces its pace), which is much more accurate. The news has been published in many other newspapers (such as ABC) and radios (such as Cadena Ser, in its prime-time news magazine).

It seems Wikipedia research (and Wikipedia itself) is getting a lot of attention!
