Accurate tag modes developed
The augmented reality module of LibreGeoSocial has two new tagging modes
Users of LibreGeoSocialApp have two new ways for tagging real objects: the Accurate modes , "Accurate side" & "Accurate line".
Both of them are based on the same principle: users must focus the target resource from several positions (upto 10), saving the user's position, orientation and inclination from each one. They also have two operation modes: manual, where user have to say in which direction is he moving (1 meter) for getting the samples after getting one, and location service based mode, where the user's location is obtained automatically from the location service. Now, let's see each mode in depth:
Accurate side
This mode uses the user's position and orientation from each saved point to get the position of the resource.
How To
- Select "Tag Resource" menu entry in Real View activity.
- Select "Accurate Side" mode.
- Focus the target and touch the screen. Hold the focus a while until a dialog box is shown.
- If user's in the location serv¡ce based mode, he could move to any position to take the next one, but is preferable not to stay close to the line that joins the last position and the target (the orientation values should change significantly between two points). Then press "Skip". Else, if he's in the manual mode, he can choose moving 1 meter to right or left directions, so press the corresponding button.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 (upto 10 times) until you're sure the resource is correctly positioned. Then press "Done".
Accurate line
This mode assumes the user is moving through the line that joins him to the target, so it uses the user's position and inclination from each saved point to get the position of the resource.
How To
- Select "Tag Resource" menu entry in Real View activity.
- Select "Accurate Line" mode.
- Focus the target and touch the screen. Hold the focus a while until a dialog box is shown (only for the first time).
- If user's in the manual mode, he can choose moving 1 meter straight or back directions, so press the corresponding button. Else, if he's in the location service based mode, just move to any point of the same line and press "Skip".
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 (upto 10 times) until you're sure the resource is correctly positioned. Then press "Done".
Valuations
- The manual modes are designed for tagging nearly objects (upto 5 meters), so they're suitable for indoor tagging.
- The location service based modes are designed for tagging far objects, so they're suitable for outdoor tagging.
Positive aspects:
- Good accuracy for the position of the resources, making possible tagging objects when we don't know where they are or the distance to them.
Negative aspects:
- Slow ways of resources tagging.
- Sometimes, users have to change their positions significantly to obtain good results.
