My personal description

Short Biography

Felipe Ortega is Researcher and Project Manager at Libresoft (University Rey Juan Carlos), since 2007. He received a M.S. (2003) in Telecommunications Engineering from Alfonso X El Sabio University, and a Ph.D. (2009) in Computer Science from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. His main research line is the Wikipedia project and its community of authors. His Ph.D. thesis was the first one to provide a comparative quantiative analysis of the top 10 language editions of Wikipedia, from different points of view. He also works to develop novel methodologies to analyze open collaborative projects (like FLOSS development projects, Wikipedia and social networking platforms) involving a high number of participants.

He is also interested in reserach, promotion and education/training on libre software. He collaborates teaching in the Master on Libre software, where he covers aspects related to his current lines of research. He also participates in the QualiPSo project, funded by the EU FP7 Research Programme. At the same time, he coordinates several projects and research initiatives funded by CENATIC, involving the participation of the Libresoft group.

Prior to his arrival at Libresoft, Felipe was full time Associate Professor at Alfonso X El Sabio University, where he teached several courses on Computer Networks, Programming, Communication Networks Design, Networking Laboratory, Computer Architecture and Cryptography and Computer Security. Currently, he continues to teach part time on Computer Architecture and Computer Security at this University.
